Balancing your financial options.

Balance. It’s a good word isn’t it? Keep everything in balance. A little bit of this, a little of that…. I remember Dad teaching me about balancing flavours in cooking from the very first thing he taught me to make (Chicken Kiev, in case you’re interested. Or Kyiv, (as we now know it should be). I’ve spent a lot of this week keeping things in balance with my son – a little guidance and a little letting him experiment with a bit more freedom. A little smile and confidence on the outside, a little screaming, ‘But he’s still a baby really!’ on the inside. But that’s mums for you.

Across the financial world balance has never been more crucial. Our greatest challenge right now is to not react too quickly to the stresses and strains the markets are experiencing across the board, but to keep a close eye, to review and to be brave enough to act only when necessary. My inbox is filling up daily with industry new articles reminding us all to hold firm and weather the storm, to stay in the markets but not to be complacent. And we’re doing just that with your investments.

Balance is important too in terms of investing versus protecting: building your reserves for your financial future is so important, but have you balanced that with making sure you have the right insurances and protections in place so that, should life not go to plan, (and I think we all know it doesn’t all too often) your family’s income is secure enough to see you all over those bumps in the road to a smooth journey? Life assurance, income protection, accident and sickness cover, to name a few. I plan to be talking about these a bit more over the coming weeks and I bet you can’t wait to read all about it…..
