One of the challenges with writing these is not so much finding something to write about, it’s that there is so much I could write about! I know what excites.

Well. I mean, seriously. When I was writing the addendum to the last Monday Musings I didn’t think he’d still be here for this one. But then, before that week I didn’t think he’d ever resign. I thought we’d be dragging him out of there. How have the markets reacted to his resignation? Well, they haven’t reacted that much. If anything there has been a small rise.
Our new Chancellor could well release an Emergency Budget before the next parliament recess so it will be interesting to see what changes he rings and what impacts those have. It’s hard, at this point, to see what he can do but either way it will be intriguing. I have heard noises of possible VAT reductions on what businesses have to charge their customers, a bit like the temporary reduction brought in to help the hospitality industry during COVID, but it’s just conjecture at this point.
Change can be difficult to handle, and most growth (business, personal, emotional) hurts a bit. But in the long run it tends to be for the better and I can’t see that that won’t be the case here. I don’t know what that’s going to look like for our leadership. But I do know what that has looked like at Straight Talk. We’ve had a few changes over the last year, some expected, some less so.
Straight Talk’s intention is to continue to strive towards giving the best service to you that we can, each and every day. The Straight Talk dream is, and has always been, to become as known and in your family as the family doctors or solicitors of old, the friendly trusted face you turn to. To that end we’ve put together a brochure detailing who each and every one of the team are, and what we all do, so you know who to contact when you need us. And you’ll know the face you’re speaking to when you call. Your advisers will be sending these out to you in the near future, so keep an eye on your doormat.
So to the markets….
