Monday Musings 09.05.2022 – Weathering the financial storms
Oh dear. Do you think BoJo saw it coming? No, neither do I. Someone saw something coming in parliament, but this particular thrashing was not it. Losing the Torie Westminster to Labour (something not even Tony Blair managed to achieve) must have stung. With the people speaking so clearly it remains to be seen whether the Tories will listen. Perhaps they’ve given up already. Perhaps they’re planning to retire to Rwanda? Most surprising is the inroad made by the Lib Dems. We could be heading towards a second crack at a coalition. Who’d have thought it?
It doesn’t seem likely that the Tories will weather this political storm – although, who knows? Stranger things have happened. But how to weather the storms of the markets? We all know that global events are having an impact on the markets and inflation rates. These times are the worst times to have a knee jerk reaction and risk crystalising a loss. Rollercoasters drop, but they do come back up and you leave them feeling surprised at how safe they were all along, even if they made your heart race at the time.
