In the musings I very rarely talk about particular areas of financial planning such as Pensions, but today let’s talk about Pensions. I want to talk about the ones you have forgotten about or perhaps not thought of for years. According to the Association of British Insurers there are about 1.6 million pension pots worth about £19.4 billion laying around waiting for someone to claim them. Funnily enough this is not your problem but is a problem for the Insurance Companies as the cost of managing these may become untenable. My son works for a major pub chain where he is getting a great grounding in the basics of running a pub. The idea has been that at some point he would have his own pub and go on to be the next ?????. Logic says that the pub trade has been hard hit by Covid 19, this would be a great time to buy a pub as prices are depressed. On the other hand, if business is likely to be pants for the foreseeable future maybe it is the worst of times to buy a pub. It is a bit like investing in the markets. Whilst there are clearly attractions to plunging in, you should ensure that you do so with the right strategy. I am pleased to say that we have greatly strengthened our investment committee now that George Rashbrook is with us as he brings a great depth of knowledge. We also have Peter Staple, an excellent adviser.

I will be sending you details of these and we would really enjoy seeing you.
So, to the markets
